This 4-day Gorillas, Chimpanzee and wildlife safari offers a remarkable combination of golden monkey trekking, mountain gorilla tracking, classic savannah wildlife viewing, and chimpanzee trekking.
The adventure starts in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, continues to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park—home to over 400 endangered mountain gorillas—and proceeds to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The safari concludes in Kibale Forest National Park, Africa’s best destination for chimpanzee tracking.

4-day Gorillas, Chimpanzee and wildlife safari Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1 – : Golden Monkey Trek & Transfer to Bwindi
Early morning pick-up from Kigali at 5:00 am and transfer to Kinigi park headquarters by 7:00 am. After a briefing, begin your guided golden monkey trek in Volcanoes National Park.
The trek is relatively easy through bamboo forests, offering scenic views of the Virunga Volcanoes. Spend one hour observing golden monkeys as they feed and interact.
After lunch, drive to the Uganda border and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2 –: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Transfer to Ishasha
After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your gorilla trek. The trek can last 2–8 hours, depending on gorilla movements.
You will spend one unforgettable hour observing a habituated gorilla family in their natural habitat.
After lunch, transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions.

Day 3 – : Ishasha Game Drive & Transfer to Kibale
Enjoy a morning game drive in Ishasha, searching for tree-climbing lions resting in fig trees, along with Uganda kob, buffaloes, and elephants.
Later, drive north to Kibale Forest National Park, enjoying scenic views of the Rwenzori Mountains—also known as the Mountains of the Moon.
After lunch in Fort Portal, visit the Bigodi Swamp Eco-Tourism Site, famous for birdlife including the Great Blue Turaco, Rwenzori Turaco, and Narina Trogon.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4 – : Chimpanzee Trekking & Return to Kigali or Entebbe
After breakfast, head to Kibale Forest for chimpanzee trekking. The activity begins at 8:00 am with a briefing before entering the forest with expert guides.
The trek lasts half a day and offers sightings of other primates such as red colobus, L’Hoest’s monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and blue monkeys.
After lunch, drive back to Kigali, arriving in the late afternoon, and transfer to Kigali International or Entebbe Airport for your departure flight.
